The old funnel taught you to get attention, capture the lead, and nurture them toward a sale. Many B2B buyers now know the companies they may consider before they begin looking. Once a problem becomes urgent, they define what they need, ask peers and AI who fits, narrow the list fast, and contact sales to confirm what they already believe.
Awareness gets you on the list. The work below makes sure you belong there once the buyer starts looking.
| Stage | What the buyer is doing | The founder's job |
|---|---|---|
| 0 Awareness | Building a mental list of companies and people worth paying attention to | Be recognizable for one specific problem and buyer |
| 1 Requirements | Working out what needs to change, who is affected, and what a solution must do | Understand the painful moment that starts the search |
| 2 Focus | Cutting a broad category down to a shortlist | Be clear enough to make the list before the buyer contacts sales |
| 3 Engagement | Checking whether the shortlist holds up | Confirm what the buyer already learned. Do not start from Product 101 |
| 4 Validation | Asking whether the decision is safe | Supply proof that the buyer can carry into the room where you are absent |
| 5 Decision | Getting permission, budget, and agreement | Keep the process moving and make the cost of delay concrete |
| 6 Expansion | Deciding whether the product was worth it | Deliver value early, then turn it into proof and referrals |
Before you add outbound volume, paid acquisition, or a sales hire, answer these questions without reaching for a slogan.
YC, Eric Ries, and a16z agree on the part founders often try to skip: sell and learn directly before you try to scale a motion. A small number of real conversations, real objections, and real commitments will tell you more than a large audience that says your idea sounds interesting.
The buyer does not have to remember every vendor in the category. They only need to recognize a few. If your company is not one of them, Focus-stage research has to do all the work.
The point is not to become famous. The point is to be familiar to the people who are most likely to have the problem.
Early-stage founders tend to describe the product because they know it best. The buyer starts elsewhere: something broke, changed, became expensive, or created risk.
The buyer now asks AI, peers, review sites, advisors, and their own network who belongs on the list. This is the stage founders miss because there is rarely a form fill or a trackable visit.
The Vuni audit reads your site as an enterprise buyer would. It assesses clarity, positioning, buyer focus, proof, stakes, and next step, then names the biggest gap holding the message back.
The model and search checks show which parts of that story survive once the buyer asks AI or searches the category.

By the time a buyer replies, they may already know the category, your alternatives, your rough price, and the gaps in your proof. A generic discovery call makes you look like you have not kept up.
The buyer is no longer asking whether the product can technically do the thing. They are asking whether they will regret choosing it.
The buyer has narrowed the field and validated the risk. The remaining work is internal: budget, approval, terms, and the final reason to change now.
The Martini Pipeline opens again after the sale. Adoption, retention, referrals, and new use cases create the proof and revenue that make the next sale easier.
Events and partnerships work when they put you in a useful conversation with the right buyer or a credible introducer. A badge scan, a booth, and a stack of business cards do not create pipeline by themselves.
The checklist tells you what the company needs to build across the pipeline. It cannot tell you whether the website makes a clear promise, whether the right buyer recognizes themselves, or whether a skeptical buyer can find proof behind your claims.
That is the gap.

Vuni reads the story your site tells, assesses its clarity, positioning, buyer focus, proof, stakes, and next step, then names the biggest gap holding the message back. It also checks how that story survives when AI models describe the company and when a buyer searches the category.
You will know what is working, what is unproven, and where to start.
